amy jo goddard co-writer, director & producer

Amy Jo Goddard is a writer, professional sexuality educator, and artist. She has been a Gynecological Teaching Associate in New York City since 2001. Amy Jo developed, wrote and hosted over 60 episodes of a women’s sexuality program “Fresh Advice” on Pseudo.com’s women’s sexuality site CherryBomb. She is co-author of the non-fiction book Lesbian Sex Secrets for Men, contributing author of All About Sex: A Family Resource Guide on Sex and Sexuality and has written for numerous other publications. Her article about performance art as activism was published in the Social Justice Journal in 2007.

Amy Jo teaches health and sexuality at the City University of New York, and has been a visiting professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara’s College of Creative Studies. She earned her Master’s degree in Human Sexuality Education at New York University and studied film and video at New School University. She works to bring her professional work in sexuality to the stage, to stories, and to film and video in order to catalyze her audiences around issues of gender, sexuality, identity and the body. She has written and directed numerous shorts, and At Your Cervix is her first feature.

julie carlson co-writer, producer & researcher

Julie Carlson is a human rights and women’s health advocate. She holds a Master’s degree in Social Work and recently graduated as a Nurse-Midwife and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. She continues her work promoting women’s reproductive freedoms as a midwife. Prior to midwifery, she was a Project Co-director at the Urban Justice Center’s Human Rights Project where she developed and coordinated social and economic human rights initiatives in the United Sates. During this time Julie also worked as a New York City GTA during which she conceived of the idea for At Your Cervix. In addition to co-writing and co-producing the documentary, Julie tells her story as a midwifery student for the film.

stephanie dawson co-producer

Stephanie Dawson received a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Management from Miami University and worked as a computer consultant for several years before working in film and television production. She worked on a number of local productions in her hometown of Cincinnati, OH, including two short documentaries about bio fuels and several submissions to the 48 Hour Film contest. She received an Associates Degree in Television and Film production from Full Sail Real World Education and then went on to produce several industrial and promotional videos for non-profit organizations under her company, Eclection Media, LLC. leigh anne sides editor

A documentary and television editor interested in human rights, politics and the arts, Leigh Anne Sides’ recent project Taxi to the Dark Side was winner of the Tribeca Film Festival Best Documentary Award, 2007. She edited the feature documentary, Kennewick Man: An Epic Drama of the West about a significant archeological find, has edited documentaries for National Geographic, and worked on two seasons of History Detectives for PBS. She was invited to take part in a 2003 Filmmaker's Workshop at the Sundance Institute. She has received various awards and honorable mentions for her work, including 2 Emmy nominations.

karen rood associate producer

Karen Rood has worked in medical education since 1990, when she became a Gynecological Teaching Associate (GTA). She coordinates GTA and standardized patient programs for medical residents at Winthrop University Hospital, as well as workshops in medical history taking, communicating difficult diagnoses, and the administration of diagnostic pelvic floor exams at teaching institutions throughout the New York City area. She considers her work in women’s health an extension of her long-time political activism on behalf of women. Prior to becoming a GTA, she worked as Chapter Administrator of the New York City National Organization for Women, was campaign administrator for two successful female candidates for Civil Court Judge in New York City, and has been an original member of a women’s reading group since 1990.

robin burdulis associate producer

Robin Burdulis is coordinator of GTA programs at Cornell-Weill Medical College, Cornell-Weill Medical College in Qatar, and Pace University, among others. She has been involved in the NYC GTA programs since their inception and has 26 years of experience teaching breast and pelvic exams. Additionally, she trains GTAs and implements GTA programs as a coordinator in NYC, and both nationally and internationally as a consultant. She also coordinates male genito-urinary teaching associate programs, and is a sex educator, social worker and percussionist. One of her favorite instruments is the speculum itself.
